Someone offered to donate this as a decorative piece for my arts center  but I have no idea what it is.  This is the only photo I have so far,  and am unaware of size or markings.   I'm perplexed by what appears to be a hand crank and two huge,  practically solid wheels.   And it's so chunky!

Can anyone here shed a little light on this for me?  Thanks!

Yep! My friend just informed me that it's a tabletop Turkish spinning wheel.   I'm so excited! Will post updates when it arrives!

You have it threaded wrong. Search "two wheel Turkish spinning wheel". You'll see.

Oh wow!  If you ever want to get rid of it, let me know.  Gorgeous!

It's an accelerated wheel with a design common in the Middle East and North Africa.  Often called a Turkish Spinning Wheel.  Good for spinning cotton.
