Hi All,

I am planning the construction of my cabin and I'd like to use a RMH. I do not want to have an elaborate design but rather something which is very simple to built and is quite idiot proof.

Any help will be appreciated. BTW - I found this regular wood stove for sale at home depot:http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-202398323/h_d2/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&keyword=barrel%20stove&storeId=10051

Will it be possible to easily convert it into a rocket mass one?

Also, if it will be possible to put some more effort into the build to be able to heat water in the cabin as well (showers and so on) I will love to learn about it.

Thanks!!!

the standard 6-inch design should work pretty well for that size space. nothing too complicated there. buy the book or check it out from your local library.

heating water might better be left until you've got a good grasp of the standard system. you'll get there, but just heat your space first. cob can be remodeled, so you can modify things later.

You could convert the stove to a RMH. Cut out the end where the loading door is, and make a plate to fit where the flue attachment fitting is. Alternatively buy an oil barrel and use that. It will be cheaper.

if a person had a stove like that already, I think you're right that it could be made to work. but I don't think the kit includes a barrel, so uri's going to have to find a barrel elsewhere anyway. I don't see how the kit would help in any way with a RMH.

defiantly the 6 inch system, the expensive part is going through the skin of your house

We find this kind of rampant individuality very disturbing. But not this tiny ad:
