Can you use the powder on a dog or in her food that's nursing puppies?

Do you mean diatomaceous earth?
I'd not use that on a nursing mother for fleas, the powder will get in the puppies lungs and might hurt or kill them (depending how young or weak they are.) Putting it in a dogs food doesn't kill fleas, needs to be a contact thing in the fur for that.

Maybe someone who knows more about it than me will answer.
