Pennyroyal oil is the most commonly named one. The problem is that many herbal abortifacients must be taken by the mother to affect the fetus/baby/fertilized egg/whatever you want to call it. And herbs always affect the mother. Abortions have enough affects on the mother without having to also deal with vomiting and other nasty side-effects. A medical D&C is safe, quick, sure and safe. And safe. Did I mention safe?
If you must abort via herbal methods, I reccommend Hygieia: A Woman's Herbal
http://www.amazon.com/Hygieia-Womans-Jeannine-Parvati-Baker/dp/0913512540/ref=sr_1_sc_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1337521653&sr=1-1-spell . It describes one woman's journey in detail. Lay out all your options and try the least harmful ones first, namely pennyroyal and tansy, and move on to the others. Take a few days off to do nothing but concentrate on this task; body and mind must be aligned or you'll barf up anything you try to drink if you're the tiniest bit conflicted.
Today's IUDs are the most safe, most effective, long-term contraceptive there is and they can be placed or removed in just one trip. They're overwhelmingly what most OB/GYNs use.
