Husband has been chopping wood by hand for a few years now. We need about 5 cords of wood to get through the winter. That's a lot of wood to chop! So hubs finally purchased a wood splitter. It's making the entire thing go much much faster but I must admit that sitting to watch him split wood is slightly less fun now. ;)

Looking good Elle;
That looks like cottonwood he is splitting up ?
Whatever it is its big and that's the kind of wood a splitter shines on!
I foresee a wood shed getting built at your house!
I just finished up hand splitting 12 cord... but it was all small and mostly easy splitting.
Having this spitter ,just  might be for the better...
You have a full plate now with your job / children/ building up your home... watching hubby split by hand might cause your plate to get refilled...

Hubs picks up a variety of free wood from a tree guy in town. It's mostly pine but there is some cottonwood and elm.

The big metal building behind him is where we move the wood in the winter. He has it sitting out right now to be dried by our very serious winds. Dries wood out very fast.

The wood splitter he bought splits wood both ways which makes it faster from what I understand.
