In soap making soap, not all fats are created equal. I need to make another batch of my facial soap, and didn't realize how low my supply had become. Oops!! As it is, I'm not sure I'll have enough to last the necessary 4 - 6 weeks of cutting time, for three next batch. Double oops!! And, the original calls for shea butter - and I'm out! Triple oops!!
So, I think if I raid my travel kits & the ones I molded into heart shapes, for guests and gifts, I might be able, if I'm very careful and lucky, to stretch my supply out. But, if I have to wait for a shipment of shea butter, I'm not betting the stash will hold out. I do have some mango butter, though, as well as a solid supply of all the other fats, for this recipe - which it's the only recipe I've tried that doesn't trigger my skin allergies. I can't just not wash, or just use water, because of all the farm stuff I have to do, that I'm also allergic to, lol. I know I'm ok with mango butter - but, does anyone else know if it will behave similarly to the shea, with the lye?
