I would like to buy some fine stainless mesh for a few different uses, starting with a solar dehydrator and insect proofing for the ventilation gaps at top/bottom of a rainscreen.

It's one of those things that seems to be a hardware store item in the US, but gets me the vacant stare treatment when I ask in the stores near me. And thus far it is resistant to my google-fu.

There must be some online retailer in Canuckistan that has *rolls* of stainless mesh at least 2 feet wide at a reasonable price, right?

Yeah, weird, it's in all sorts of manufactured goods. I suppose for most utility purposes, galvanized hardware cloth or window screen does the job for most people.

I can see preferring stainless for food contact though. It sounds like you're talking  about no-see-um size mesh.

There's all sorts of stuff on Amazon, but it seems spendy.

How about these guys? Not sure they do retail but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I found www.cwcloth.com, which is Canadian. I don't see prices on the site, so you'd have to contact them I guess. Look under fine mesh in their products dropdown.

I used the phrase wire cloth in my search engine, in case that helps you.
