Let's design a timber framed roof to cover an outdoor kitchen between the House and Library at Wheaton Base Camp.

Design requirements:
1) timber frame
2) open air for types of heat
3) glass roof in places
4) highest ridge exceeds both, house and library
5) stabilized on bed rock

I kicked off the project with Paul's idea of having three gable roofs. One opaque roof, and two lower roofs with glass surfaces.

Please comment. Thanks!

I like the airflow you're going for with the roof design.

Do we know the summertime prevailing winds direction/intensity at this spot?
What's your vertical clear between the t.o. fph ridge and the b.o. galley high roof beam?

I don't. In a conversation about the red cabin and love shack, Paul told me that Base Camp doesn't get much wind.

I hope to answer your questions with these screen captures and measurements within.
