This sort of thing just won't do.
The original documentary:
And now the original series appears to be accessible (stolen?) on GooTube as well. Well worth your time, people. I tried to get this series on DVD, way back in the dreamtime, when it was impossible to get a compatible player in N. America.

The skinny: Les Hiddins, Australian curly-haired Major, Ethno-Botanist in the Outback gathering aboriginal knowledge of bush foods, accidental star of a series called Bush Tucker Man, and possessor of a completely awesome hat. remember him well ,seen all the episodes on tv and the repeats a few years later , his style was easy going , and the series for me was a top up on the australian adventure thing i got hooked on after following the films of Alby Mangles.
