I used to plant the same veggies year after year.  Boring I know, but for some reason that is what I did.  Last year I tried a couple of new veggies, and this year I have planted several things we have never tried.  I have the space, my family love all kinds of veggies, and if we don't like it, the chickens do.  With chickens it's a win even if we don't like it.
My son and I tried swiss chard the other day. I didn't like it, to bitter.  My son said it is ok.  I will try it again, because I have been told it's better mixed with other greens then by itself. I picked some of the larger leaves, and holy ones. I gave them to the chickens.  They didn't seem to want it, but it was gone the next day.  The next time I brought some in they went nuts. Pulling it out of my hands.
The chickens make it easy to broaden our horizons veggie wise.  We get to try new things, and even if we don't like it the chickens do.  They consume less store bought food making it cheaper for me. They have a more diverse healthier diet, which probably make the eggs a little healthier.  It's a win all the way around.  I  excited about trying more new veggies.

That great I bet the chickens love it. Its kind of how I got started gardening, growning  veggies for my pet rats.
