Volunteer squash, picture taken through purple row cover, that's why it's odd colored.
You can see the intact leaves to the left, then the veins show up weird on the rest...
What makes that happen?
Thank you! I don't know what the variety is, it may well be a butternut.
Interesting... then what is THIS one doing? I assumed the first pics were this same process, earlier on, but this seems to be affecting the tomato it's snuggling with....

seems to be having the same problem as the squash
That one is harder to diagnose without being able to see and feel it firsthand, but it looks like it might be chemical in nature. I saw spots like that when I tried the vinegar-based weedkiller but didn't spray it thickly enough. Is there anything that might have dripped or sprayed in that spot?
(My second-best guess would be something fungal. Again, hard to tell from just pictures.)
Oooh. you may have just said the magic words. It's both by the gate where the neighbor tomcat might spray, AND it's right by the kale where my mom was chasing cabbage moths with a vinegar/dish soap mix to see if it was worth trying to squirt them (it's not, they move too fast) I bet either mom hit them, or the tomcat did.
Either one would explain a lot.
it looks like a burn-- sunscald is a good guess too, but when my dog manages to pee on a plant that is what it looks like. Looks like you have various burning options available....
