The weeds are amok here!! And some are puzzling me...
These all have square stems, so I know they are in the mint family (Lamiaceae)
Growing amok in Southern Missouri (zone 6a/b) in several place
I asked my cat about a couple of them, knowing cats are into that family of plants.
Lamiaceae 1: These are all over my garden. Not a lot of flavor. Cat is 100% not interested.
Lamiaceae 2: On my property, lots of it. Bit of flavor, not identifiable. Local Ag dept guessed catnip, my cat said "hm... Interesting, but not nip."
Lamiaceae 3 In the graveyard edge behind the rental. Not a lot of flavor.Cat hasn't seen them.
The first one reminds me of some kind of vervain. Maybe white vervain (Verbena urticifolia)? Doesn't look quite the same though..
The second really, really looks like catnip to me. I feel like there are certain stages of growth where it is more appealing to cats. I feel like maybe I remember my cat not being as interested in it once there were flowers. But I could also just be wrong about the ID.
Third one kind of looks like Wood Sage (Teucrium canadense).
Bees love all of them in my yard.
I love that you asked your cat. They are wise in the way of plants!
