I wrote this about my kitten I had a long time ago and thought I would share.

Since I no longer have a picture of Calico I found one on Pinterest that looked a lot like my kitten and a few other pictures to make this story more interesting:

When I was a young teenager our neighbor's cat decided to give birth to a litter of kittens at our house.  My sister and I put them in a box and took them back to the neighbor.  She was so mad and told us to leave her cat alone.

It was only a little while after we got back home we saw momma cat bringing the kittens back one by one!

So we let her stay with us until the kittens were weaned and she was ready to go back home.

We let two of her kittens stay with us and I don't remember what happened to the rest of them.  Maybe we to them back to the neighbor.

So my sister had a white kitten she named Mugsy and mine was a calico that I named Calico.

Unfortunately, Calico got run over one Halloween and we had Mugsy until I went off to college.

Calico was the only cat I ever owned.  Maybe the experience of him getting run over made me not want to get another kitten.

Anyway, this is a tribute to Calico.

I think it’s beautiful that the mommy kitty chose to have her kittens with your family. I feel like animals often sense more than we, humans, are able to.

I can understand why the tragic loss of your kitty would prevent you from getting another one but after looking at my local animal shelters, adoption sites, and even the next door app, I’m inclined to give a kitten or two, or an adult cat or dog a second chance at having a loving home.

Or perhaps the right kitten will come to you…

That is beautiful, Alana.

I enjoy other people's cats.

Our daughter always has one or two.  Her first cat was the house cat at one of her first jobs, a vet, she fell in love with it so they let her have it.
