Would you, my dear permie familiars, please post what medicinal plant books you've found most useful? I am looking to get suggestions on 10 or so plants to start with, and how to harvest and prepare them. I'm not looking for wildcrafting; rather, perennials I can start in my garden/orchard and/or under my very small stand of Hawthorn trees. Thank you.

I would recommend any books by Stephen H Buhner, I have his "Herbal Antibiotics" and here is another:

Also, Sharon Tilgner is a member of the forum:

I really like Matthew Wood - I only have his Earthwise Herbal Vol. II because it is more focused on North American plants, which is my area of interest over growing plants from other parts of the world, but I figure the first one would be just as good as the second.

Although this is not a book but a website, it has lots of practical how-to advice for learning how to process plants into medicines, as well as some good monographs on the blog. Useful and practical advice under their Herbal Resources tab as well, even if you intend to grow and use these only within your own household and not as a more formal herbalism practice. https://chestnutherbs.com/herbal-blog-juliet-blankespoor/

Thank you Anne and Marissa. I did check our book forum and could not find what I was looking for, tho I couldn't figure out an efficient way to search through the many books there: just scrolled down for quite a long while. I am grateful for the references provided, and will look over the blogs, tho most often my internet availability is weak or non-existent.

I'm fond of my own....
Herbal Medicine for Preppers, Homesteaders and Permaculture People by Judson Carroll
https://southernappalachianherbs.blogspot.com/2021/10/herbal-medicine-for-preppers.html

Beyond that, I always recommend Maria Treben.  After more than 30 years of experience and certification as a master herbalist, I still turn to her books first.

I'm so excited! I just got home and downloaded your book. It's great - will definitely be a timesaver.

I have not seen any of Maria Treben's books but came across a website a while back that I have referenced several times since then. It covers a relatively limited number of herbs, but quite in depth.
