Hi Joe. A picture would be very helpful.

Is the blower moving air through a heat exchanger and exiting somewhere else around the stove?

The other option is that is an old coal stove. I have seen them in maritime museums; they were used in fishing vessels and such, small ships. I suspect it was the only way to ensure enough draft in a coal stove without a tall chimney.

Here are search results from a wood heat discussion group: https://www.hearth.com/talk/search/228228/?q=shenandoah&t=post&o=relevance  On the top right is the search feature.

I imagine fans like that could be very useful if one wanted to make a blast furnace. They must have pretty good heat resistance.

The coal stove blowers I've seen are quite small, and the output is probably more like a big computer fan than a forge blower. Coal stoves actually run cooler than wood stoves, except right where the coal is burning.

Oh sure, it's a tiny ad, but under the right circumstances, it gets bigger.
