If you are new to permaculture - or even if you aren't this lecture is a fabulous place to start.

Bill Mollison, considered the 'father' of permaculture, recognized a need to educate people of the use of old and new ideas to create sustainable communities. ( I realize that most of you know who Bill Mollison is but there may be new people who are not familiar with his name).

I am just so ecstatic to have found this lecture series.

In this lecture he talks about:

What is permaculture?
What sustainable means in the context of permaculture.
Growing food if you live in the city.
How to make money in a sustainable manner.
What makes a good/bad design.

Here is the first video of the series http://www.networkearth.org/videos/The_Function_Of_Design.html

I agree, I learned first from him ..my introduction to permaculture was "introduction to permaculture" in the 70's..and I've gobbled up whatever I could find in writing since. Read his phamplets and lectures earlier on and they are very helpful.

I don't suppose anyone has a copy of Episode 4 of the Bill Mollison lecture series? The one on the website doesn't seem to be working, although the other ones are.

This thread has links to another great resource for beginners: https://permies.com/t/13890/permaculture-design/Free-Permaculture-Distance-Learning-NC. It's an introduction to permaculture style organic farming with Will Hooker.

Is that the one on Home gardens? I sent them an email letting them know it didn't work and they told me it worked fine for them.

Hey CJ.
Yeah - that's the one. I wrote them an e-mail too and got a really cryptic reply and a request for a donation. I did offer them money if they'd repost the episode, but got an even more cryptic one about how the video was shot years ago and how a lot had changed since then. All the same, I have offered a donation anyway, but find the situation rather strange!
