The suggestion, create an easy to find job/work opportunity section under one of the main sections you see on the home page.

My reasoning

#1)
It is a frequent conversation point at permacukture events and gatherings I've attended, "Why hasn't permaculture "succeeded" more"?

Money is certainly an obstacle for many young, enthusiastic no permaculturists.

And it is often a challenge to find work OR workers that fit the ethics or standards we want to uphold.

#2) I think there are a lot of permaculture projects people want help on, and there are lots of people who would love to help and make some money at the same time. They just need a space to do so.

#3) I think this would help people beginning or building their permaculture career or businesses that might otherwise fall through the cracks and get ground down by the machine.

4) It might facilitate more connections and community building nationwide.

Several people in out group would be interested in perusing permaculture jobs/projects on here and many of us are nomadic and travel

And we would be likely to post a few projects/jobs we'd  pay for help on.

Thanks for considering.

Something like this?

https://permies.com/c/experiences

Contains jobs wanted, jobs offered, woofing, lots of different forums (list on the right side)

There's also the regional category that people sometimes offer jobs in https://permies.com/c/3

And then we have this category which is all about ways to earn money: https://permies.com/c/20
The cottage industry forum is my favourite https://permies.com/f/197/ci
quickly followed by the residual income forum https://permies.com/f/196/ri

Thanks. Its just a little easy to miss, when you are browsing from the home screen with the nice little picture icons for growing, homesteading, community, etc.

The experience section, with the jobs subsection, is likely missed by 80%+ of the pages visitors.

It can be difficult to find even if you know it exists and are searching for it until you really become well oriented to the site

I think it would get a lot more attention and traction with some small adjustments

If i were looking for a work opportunity, I wouldn't search an invisible subsection called experiences.

Same if I am trying to hire someone, I wouldn't post it or expect them to search under experiences,  and I'd put it under a main section with an icon, like community or regional maybe?

Thanks again for considering.

Many visitors to the site might incorrectly perceive that the icons and subsections represent all the forum sections. Unless you do a deeper dive under forums you do not see those sections you shared.

I have had this experience, and I'm sure others have too.

I'll pass on your feedback.
I've seen something like this in the development list, but it's a very low priority.  Permies is about so much more than job hunting.

The permies forums have been here for over 15 years (and longer as a subsection of another forum), so we've had a lot of time to get to know what works well and experiment with other formats.  I see you're quite new, so maybe give yourself some time to settle in.  the list of all forums might help (you can see it on the left under "all forums" if you lose the link: https://permies.com/forums/forums/allForums

Permies runs at a loss so development is prioritized by the person who pays the bills - aka, Paul Wheaton.  There are a lot more priorities like fixing the bugs in the Purple Moosage system and a few other indexing issues on new posts that are higher on the list.

A great way to help shape the future of these forums is to buy PIE and give it out to the posts you like best.  https://permies.com/wiki/pie

Also, buying and selling items in the digital market help encourage permaculture creators (fund the young that you were talking about in the OP) and permies gets a small cut for every sale.  https://permies.com/c/29

Another way to help provide opportunities is to sign up for an affiliate link and make money while helping permies and young (and previously young) creators.  https://permies.com/forums/affiliate/list

There is lots you can do to influence the direction of this site.

I must admit I tend to jump straight into the forums pages rather than use the home screen. As you say there are lots of hidden gems here!
Happy Browsing!

I also want to mention that I think it is fantastic paul lets us use this site for free and doesn't hide the content behind a login wall.

So many permaculture sites restrict access through a paywall or email login (that 9 times out of 10 doesn't work and has ZERO support).

I don't have money to give back to permies, so I give my time to write tutorials and sell stuff on the digital market because I know that helps pay the server bills.

Sounds good. I see a lot of correlations between things.

To thank a person for feedback and to tell someone you'll pass on their feedback are very different things.

Be well.

I agree that this site is an amazing thing.

I agree that Paul's  contribution to is an incredible service to the world.

For that, thank you Paul, deeply and sincerely.

I do have a sense that what makes this amazing is the contribution of content and help in the sites creation that I imagine web is a massively communal participation.
