Hi all! My elderly neighbors have asked me to prune their overgrown spirea hedge, which I’m excited about because it’s starting to shade my sunny spots. However, this project is going to generate a massive quantity of very thin twigs. Like thread width. Any ideas for useful things to do with them?
I agree with Eric about mulch and composting the twigs.
They also might be good for starting a campfire if you are into that kind of recreation.
Might be good for basket weaving and other crafts.
In the spring when I trim my perennials as I clip them I cut them into smaller pieces for mulch. The twigs just stay where they land in the garden.
They are also good for mulching garden paths.

+1 on firestarter/kindling! I was just using some last night to start up the BBQ for some pork chops. I arranged them in a bundle and tied them up, stick it in an old bucket and pull them out as i need them.
