Hummingbirds are complicated creatures. Sure, the hum could be due to the simpler reasons but I suspect it's more likely caused by intermodulation distortion. Those types of undesired signals are too complex for a simple passive filter cap. Perhaps the hummingbird needs a more elaborate filter such as an active comb filter for maximum attenuation.

My father was an electrician and I know he'd have understood what you two are humming about, lol. For some reason I find the concept of electricity quite confusing. I am reading 'The Invisible Rainbow' right now and it is fascinating. As are hummingbirds.

Hummingbirds are like chihuahuas, they are little spunky fighters who don't realize they are too tiny to be acting so gangsta. I had an injured one in summer 2020 that I tried to save, he couldn't fly but he only lasted a few days. I looked for a wildlife rehabilitator in my area but the one we had was told to let nature do it's thing and not intervene, so we don't have one at the moment. I am so creative a person that I named him 'Birdie' and gave him the entire feeder to himself, hoping he'd live indoors and his wing would heal and then he could be released to fly to Mexico with his compadres the following summer. Beautiful iridescent green, white and black bird, not sure what kind as I couldn't find one that looked exactly like him but all the hummingbirds that come to my feeders look like he did.
