Back story about 7 years ago we had 2 dogs both bought from dog rescues.  One getting older a rottweiler lab mix.one young a dachshund mix.

Female and male strays living in our garage. The male would wait by the road all day, and in the evening come back with the female. One day a boy carried the male dog, crying, he said he watched someone swerve off the road and hit the dog on purpose.  We won't get into the anger and sadness we all felt.  We made an effort to gain the female's trust. She was skin and bones, looked to me like she lost a litter. We brought her in, and she had 2 puppies the same night we brought her in.  We fell in love and kept all 3.
We lost both our first 2 dogs one ??? One got hit by a car.

Now we have 3 medium size dogs and 2 cats in our house, 2 cats in the mother in-law house, and 1 outside cat. ( All cats were strays and came to us) let's not forget 17 chickens, and 8 chicks ( I actually bought the chickens)

Wednesday morning 3/9/22 I came out of my chickens coop to find 3 German Shepherd puppies in my backyard. My daughter and I put them in our front yard, the only place that's fenced.  The road in front of our house is very busy, and high speeds.
They are a bit timid, loving, and creat trained, they were clean, and healthy looking  I think 12 to 16 weeks old.  We have posted on lost and found Facebook, searched every lost and found web sites in our area we can find, called vet offices our country animal shelter, we took them to the vet to check for a chip. Nothing???  I just don't understand, someone spent time we these pups.  We continue to search, but are already very attached.  I just can't believe no one has claimed them.
My 4 adult children still live at home. They have decided if they aren't claimed, we will keep them all.  I could say no, but I'm also in love.
We have decided to search for two weeks. Incase the owners are on vacation, or something. If no one has claimed them by then we will keep them.  The shelter told me if the owners bring proof in 6 months we would have to give them back. To that I say good luck proving it , they won't look anything like they do now. The more time goes by the more I think the owner doesn't deserve to have them. Odds are if we had not taken them in we may have found one or more dead in the road.
I just don't know why the universe sends us dogs in 3s.

I find strays part of living in the country.   If they stick around at all, we get them their shots ...... and have them fixed so they won’t make more strays. Yeah,  our vet bill can take a hit some years.   Normally, we get visited by far more cats than dogs though.

My wife an I developed a theory years ago that dogs often arrived in 3s because 3 is a pack.

We never found the owners. Call us insane, we are keeping all three. This is why we always get our animals fixed. We can't bare to give them up.
Meet Koda, Sam, and Kiri.
We will extend our fence to give them more room to roam.  Now the debate is to have them be 100% outside dogs, or not.  I'm on the fence about that.  The girls are very curious and want to come in. The boy is timid, and sits in the doorway when we let them in.  We already love them.
It's difficult not knowing how old they are, what kind of dog's they are, what care they have had.  We hope the vet can give us some educated guess on a few of those questions. We will do shots and worming like they haven't been done, seem the safest bet.
The dog's we already have had the be in the picture too. The one you can't see the head of came as a stray, and had 2 puppies the day we brought them in.  They are couch potatoes, and spend most of the time sleeping in the house.

Puppies are doing great, growing fast. Got fixed 6/10/22 it's a challenge keeping them calm   puppies play. My adult children want to follow vet instructions to the letter.  The problem is they are well, and if not allowed to run and play, they are starting to be mean to each other.  We have had many puppies fixed throughout our lives.  You have to let them play, and hope no gets injured.  Now I just have to convince my kids.

If you're really curious what kind of dogs they are, you could DNA test one of the three.  They all look very much alike, that would give you the answer.

Either way, you're wonderful for doing this.

Thanks.  The vet said German shepherd, husky, and maybe cattle dog because two of them have spotted fron legs.  But that's just her educated guess.  We have actually talked about a DNA test.  So far we have spent 2200.00 at the vet.  I wanted to go to the SPCA, but my kids wanted to go to a local vet.  We are sharing the bill, so it's ok.  As long as they stay healthy there shouldn't be any more vet bills for a year.  It's a good thing I work at a Co-op, because they are eating about 100 lb of dog food a month.  So my kids can do a DNA, but it's 100.00, and I have spent enough, besides I understand they're not very accurate.  If they do it, I will share the results.
