I agree, looks like a millipede. I haven't had any issues with them. I usually see them going after already decaying matter, so I figure they're helping.
My chickens only eat them as a last resort. Millipedes can produce a nasty smell to ward off predators and I think that discouraged them. Perhaps wild birds or some other critters will eat them?
