Is there such a thing?

Our former dog was trained to stay in the car by herself.

Our current dog is trained to sit in the seat.  She has never been in the care by herself.

I would like to start taking her with me when I go to the mailbox.  I am not sure how she would react when I got out of the car to get the mail. She has separation anxiety.

Is there such a thing as a dog seat belts so I don't have to worry about her for the few minutes I will be out of the car?

Where would something like this be found?

Yes, but it's not about keeping them safe when you get out of the car. It's about keeping them from becoming projectiles, in case of an accident, potentiality killing or severely injuring them or others.

I am just looking for something to keep her from trying to get out of the car when I get out.

I probably only go 20 to 30 mph when I go to the mailbox.

One day I was behind a truck going 5 mph.  Dear hubby was getting ready to come looking for me.

What do they look like?  Or what are they called?

The one we use is a dog halter with a slit you run the seat belt through. Ask at pet or petsmart..

I use one similar to this, for Charlie(my little Cavalier): https://www.amazon.com/Pawaboo-Universal-Chew-Proof-Restraint-Adjustable/dp/B09QQJKGZ8/ref=sr_1_55?crid=31AGSQW6ALCJ1&keywords=dog+seat+belt&qid=1651417577&sprefix=Dog+seat%2Caps%2C192&sr=8-55

John uses a back seat hammock unit, with a built in seatbelt, for Bailey (his Irish Wolfhound)

Both girls got used to them very quickly, both methods work very well, and we do use them every time we take the girls out with us.

Thanks, Mk and Carla.

I will look at those.

I thought about putting her harness on and then the seat belt through her leash, though I want something more secure.

Charlie's is attached to her harness, to keep from choking her or breaking her neck, in case of an accident. The only thing I attach to her(cat type, break-away) collar, are her tags. 😊

Our dog does not even wear a collar. I keep her dog tags in with her health records.

Smart! The only reason Charlie wears hers, is because I take her with me everywhere I'm allowed to take her in.

As if that wasn't enough, a dog then peed on the tiny ad.
