Hi my wife and I (Bobby 32@Hannah 24) have inherited 20 acres of raw land with a roughly 3 acre pond, located in Nw Louisiana. We have just had our first child and are looking to establish an off grid homestead on the property. Ideally in the long run there will be multiple domiciles and multiple persons and families inhabiting the land. The property is located next to more family land so there is potential to expand as well.
  At the moment there isn’t much there we have begun construction of a greenhouse 32’x40’. I’m looking for innovative motivated persons to help me establish the infrastructure I have an abundance of materials and skills but need assistance with the heavy lifting.
  I have experience in natural building as well as metal fabrication, I spent several years in military and then building naval ships, I’m a combat vet and very open minded.
  That said basically some people get along and work well and some don’t, I have used sites like workaway.info and traveled all over the USA  visiting homesteads and farms. In that time I met many great people but it was difficult to find a place that felt it would ever be home or worth my time in the long run, no guarantees so to speak.
So now I have the opportunity to be on the other end of the spectrum and I hope that I can provide the opportunity I always sought on this site and so many others to someone else. A place to experiment learn and grow, a home possibly, the possibilities are endless! Message me and we will talk more!

So how would it work?
Like WOOFAS board in return for labour?
Or something else?

Well I’m not sure honestly everyone is different and values things differently.
What would it look like to you?
I’m not big on a this for that mentality but just like everyone else I have needs, primarily I need to establish infrastructure and then through that infra I hope to be able to generate enough income to reinvest into the land and operation.
A little background about me I’ve spent the last 7 years traveling and backpacking and trying to live without money. I was successful and very much enjoying my life and minimized my cost of living to near zero, to virtually nothing. Then in 2020 I got a call and I was gifted 20 acres. A huge blessing no doubt but very difficult to establish a homestead nowadays with no funding. So I got myself a job at Waffle House and slowly but surely I’m chipping  away at it. Thing is I don’t wanna work at Waffle House I wanna live and I want my living to support my family as well as allow me to work in the same yard my son will play in. I hope that whome ever is involved is blessed as well, be it with an opportunity to grow food, a place to live a modest income or whatever...
So I guess my mindset is to do what I know works, this land has been a dream of mine for some time but while traveling I put my dreams on th side lines and just followed my Tao and it led me here ,literally just dropped 20 acres in my lap out of no where . I trust the Toa will lead whomever I need to me and I to them.

My to primary goals are to build 2 cottages on the land one for myself and one for guest or rent or whatever is worked out and then I want to get a small farm up and running.

Generally speaking I always split profit 50/50 ...always... when more than one party is involved this is fair and I see everyone’s needs as equal to my own so I like to be fair. That said I also am look for persons of impeccable character it’s something I pride myself on and I would like to meet others who also pride themselves on this. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you... idk I try my damnedest like splitting profits 50/50 even if I could lay claim to more I don’t because thats me practicing the golden rule but how often do you think others reflect that back lol it doesn’t always work out. Sometimes for whatever reason some people just don’t jive ya know....

I’m curious what your thoughts are and what you might be seeking?

Thanks Bobby, I have a better idea of what you are thinking about.
I am in Australia and cannot join you, but I was concerned your 'advertisement' was not clear.
I have mixed feelings about asking people to help build homes etc just for the experience.
At times I have called it slavery, but I can see thats not what you have in mind.

Whatever system is used, it needs to be fair to all parties, that is whats good about WWOOFers. http://wwoofinternational.org/
From that site;
" WWOOF organisations connect people who want to live and learn on organic
farms and small-holdings with people who want to share their knowledge and way of life.
WWOOF hosts offer food, accommodation and opportunities to learn about organic and self-sufficient lifestyles.
Visitors or WWOOFers as they kindly known,  give a helping hand with the daily activities on the land and in the family home."

Perhaps you can look at the Waffles job as;
- short term source of cash
- to fulfill your hopes on the land.
- I am sure Tao would expect some effort by yourself to contribute and since cash is a lubricant of society you will find it easier using it than barter.
- I would imagine what I would achieve with the cash I earned each week. IE window frame, fencing materials, food on table etc

Since you are starting from bare land, you dont have much to offer at the moment, so some planning is required;
- shelter for your family, even a tent
- create plans for a small part of the 20 acres, start small so you dont get overwhelmed
- determine how outside help would fit in
- create accomodation for helpers
PLANNING
Accomodation- I have written here along with many others the thought process used when building a home.
Perhaps read them, but basically you need sanitation, cooking and sleeping areas.
Depending on your weather, there may be influences on the choices, where are your located?
Those areas may change over time, but its a start. It maybe tents,
CONSTRUCTION
This will take a bit of time, but you may need to do that by yourself until you have shelter for helpers.
FOOD PRODUCTION
Get moving with this as soon as you can

I think the 50 /50 deal is not worth being on the table at the moment, because you will not have a profit for some time, perhaps wait until you have a market garden or similar.

Well I’m not giving all of the details intentionally.
For a decade I’ve been working for donation as I traveled, I tell everyone the same thing I’ll help you because you need it and you don’t owe me anything, be blessed if feel you must repay me it can be now or later of you can pay it forward!
As I’ve gone about doing this I realized god at least in my eyes is in all thing god is the word we use for the inconceivable ALL so every persons need is an opportunity to serve god be it by being the one to offer assistance or being the one in need. It would be hard t serve god or others if there were no needs... in doin this my family has grown beyond blood and I have been blessed in numerous ways both in a material since and non material since. I’ve blessed and been blessed... more than assistance or offering opportunity I’m looking for moral and spiritual character.
But I do understand how some may see it as slave labor, really any and everything just boils down to perceptions and most people’s perceptions are formed from past experiences and unfortunately most people seeking help are only seeking help for themselves. It’s very important to use the golden rule into your everyday life.

So I didn’t give the clearest picture on purpose and I have man eyes and ears seeking for me as well so the right fit is out there I just need to stir them up!

Hello Mr. and Mrs. Ingram. I can across your forum and I would love to hear some updates on how things are coming along in your homestead life style. I was extremely  impressed and taken back by what I read. I love how you learned how to live off of little to no money. I have also become a very simple person. I am starting a new adventurer...that is what lead me to searching the internet for people with homestead who was looking to start a small community. Is the offer still open? All in all, it gives me hope on finding someone like your family. Regardless, would love to hear back from you.

Sincerely,
               Ms. Donnie Pierre

   I am a 45 year old disabled single father with lots of knowledge on living off grid and can show you alot but the heavy lifting part is something I can't really do a lot of. I do have a 35 ft. Pull behind RV. I would love the opportunity to help you make your dream a reality... I can be sort of the village elder and provide wisdom.and insight... I can help you with a viable source of income that will get you out of the waffle house quicker.... I have a small business that went belly up due to me falling ill. I have an A+ better business rating with an 11 year history of being tracked by them. I could train you to do my business and you could start making 6 figures a year and working less than 30 hours a week with no experience. All you need is a pickup truck and a desire to make money. You can't be shy and must be willing to get outside of your comfort zone... It is an outside sales business.Email me of you're interested my email is destroying.myths@gmail.com

 P.S I AM ALSO STRUGGLING FINANCIALLY DUE TO MY DISABILITY SO THIS WOULD BE A GODSEND FOR ME...

Hi! My name is Celeste ; I’m interested in taking care of a cow and setting up an area to make cheese, butter and eventually yogurt etc. we can sell it and make baked goods with it as well. I love cooking and I’m huge on non pesticide , simple , real ingredients. No bleached sugar , no bromate flour etc. I would be beyond grateful to have an opportunity to be on your land, and I’m very good at sprouting seeds to get ready for planting/
Even a butterfly sanctuary would be amazing to have and eventually make a business with that as well. Ive always been obsessed with caterpillars:P
