People will be wishing they had a composting toilet when their "on-grid" toilet malfunctions along with all other things requiring running water.

I absolutely agree. And not just water issues but electricity issues. I currently live where we use well water to flush the toilet but the well uses a pump that is controlled by electricity… so no electricity no water for flushing.

In Mexico, similar thing… where I worked lastthe pumps were controlled by electricity and we frequently had power outages. We had no outhouses on that property, so we literally could not go to the bathroom on site for hours and there were about 20 of us.

Few times in the past the electric has gone down where I live meaning no ability to use the electric well water pump. Decided to install a hand pump into the existing well in case of future power outages. You can run a garden hose from this hand pump setup to an outside water faucet on the house (as long as it is not frost free type) and pressurize the water inside the house using the hand pump or just pump water into containers, etc as needed. Must have setup for anyone with well water IMO
