Are there any bugs that look like squash beetles but are good? I'm in southern MO, if that helps narrow the scope of the question.
I have had hell with the beetles the last two years here, and am going to be planting later than I want to in an attempt to starve them out ahead of time. I was out in the garden the other day, saw 2 bland colored shield beetles having sex and 2 others watching them (not my place to judge, I just report what I saw.) I killed all 4 of them. I have no idea what type they were. Don't think they were squash beetles, but I killed them anyway, assuming they would end up a problem of some type.
Are there any good ones I want to protect that might get caught up in my "die, you gravy sucking squash beetles!" mania? Or is everyone that looks like them a problem of some sort?
