Hi, in peruvian rainforest i have found many time this fungy growing on fallen trees, ive eaten them and they are tasty.
Are this fungy edible? Do anybody knows the scientific name?
The structure that resembles veins is one of the variations of the Auricularia, depending on location and type of wood, and of course the spores are different.
As far as the purpose, they are part of the spore producing structure which is unique to the gelatinous basidiocarp fungi.
