In this
thread, Paul expresses his frustration with the podcast and how he does not have time to thinker with the files to convert them, compress them, equalize the volume, etc. He also mentions that it is hard to get people to help him reliably, because many of us have day jobs or other projects going on. I REALLY like Paul's podcasts and feel like it would be unfortunate that he cannot continue putting them up. While I would be willing to contribute in a fund to keep the podcast going, it seems like unless many people follow suit, that would not be
enough to pay an assistant.
So, I suggest that few people get together an form the
Podcast Rescue Team . I think it could work with 4-5 people that are computer savvy. Here's what I have in mind:
Paul records a podcast (in AMR format)Paul uploads the file on a drop box (I could set one up) and notifies the Podcast Team on this threadSomeone steps up and says: "I'll do that one"That person converts, compresses and adjusts the audio fileThe processed podcast is uploaded back on the drop box for Paul or someone else to publish
I know I left out the podcast summary part. That could be done by whoever processes the file or by someone else from the team.
Hopefully with such a team, if one is too busy this week to process the file, someone else can step up and do it. If the quality in unsatisfactory, someone can try to reprocess the file. If that does not work, well we put a warning in the summary.
I don't know if this is a good idea, but it seems like it could remove a burden from Paul's shoulder and allow him to only have to start the recorder.
