Well, it sure looks a whole lot better! You're moving water away from your domicile, which is generally a good idea, and the chickens are enjoying the mulch.

My problem usually is that the chickens "enjoy" the mulch until it's scattered all over the lawn. This has led to less free ranging for chickens, sadly.

We don't free range all the time due to predator pressure. I let them out for a couple of hours after work, so scattering the mulch hasn't been a problem. I am really anxious for Spring so I can get some things growing in it!

Looks great! My chickens are trying to dismantle all my hugelkultur also.
