removing pharmaceutical toxins from soil

Hi there....someone I know has just found out the manure he has been using for the last 2 seasons was from a farm that uses the horses for animal testing of pharmaceuticals for the government. (Don't even get me started on that)
I know for now he is starting a new  planting area with hugul beds that he was planning to do anyway, but what can be done or planted in that contaminated area to regenerate it?

are mushrooms any good at this. where are the wine cap experts?

just saw information about pharmaceuticals being found in ground water in Germany but they didn't show and solutions I think it was just to raise the alarm flag. to let people know there is a problem that needs to be addressed

... Bruce beat me to it :), I was going to suggest mushrooms as well. That is what I get for opening a bunch of posts, and then not responding until later :)

I'm not a soil expert, but I do know that the more alive your soil is, the more likely the nasty elements are going to be locked up in some inert way. I would focus on mushrooms, getting a lot of carbon added, organic manures, biochar, and anything to add life.

I am going to echo, and loudly mushrooms.

To me, I feel the first step is to learn about mushrooms and the 2nd step is to decide which mushrooms to grow.
