Hi glad to be a member of Permies.  I am into gardening and have a son with a couple of acres which he wants to have bees. We will be looking at putting in flowers. He wants to plough the land first before planting the flowers. What is the best way to go?

Post pictures of your land. We can read the land from the photos.

Hi Gen,
Welcome to Permies. Congratulations on your first post. It is a difficult call with the amount of information. What is the general area your son lives?  Mixed flower seeds with root vegetables and spinach type seeds will be a great combination. I agree, a photo of the land will be good.

Hi Genny,
Welcome to Permies!
What sort of flowers are you thinking of planting? Are these just for the bees, or are they for cutting, essential oils or another purpose?
Ploughing does have it's uses, but can destroy soil over time.
I assume, since you have posted in Australasia, that you are based in that part of the world, but it has a wide climate range. Knowing what your climate, soil and terrain is like will help us make more sensible suggestions for you.

All that thinking. Doesn't it hurt? What do you think about this tiny ad?
