Hey Im an owner of a property in central coast of Portugal. Just joined the site after reading it over the years and appreciate the content and members i see. Here is my intro post which gives a brief summary of how i got here.
https://permies.com/t/202842/Central-Portugal-Ireland-Canada webpage

The property has gone through various stages of gaining more land(up to about 7 acres now) clearing building roads and various camps and rv spots leading to a clearing at the top that can have a few cabins. Its basically a big forested hill that has various terraced areas and a few landings that can be built on. There is a good workshop that i have turned into a cottage as i call it up top with a great view of Nazare and valley/distant ocean. This has everything a normal house has except dryer, microwave. Heat and hot water is from wood which i have a ton from the forest. Living is very cost effective and I have a small pension that covers monthly costs.

Problem is i just had a sudden change in motivation after my Dad Farm partner passed away. It is fairly current so iits early and i am looking for options to discover that maybe i havent thought of. Im 52 so this is a starting over stage again now. Being single is a double edged sword at this time because i am probably vulnerable for prey as well. Moving slowly is my gut thought so thats why i joined this site hoping ideas may start flowing.

I have been considering looking for someone to look after the place while i sort things out in my head but feel being away may make it worse for when i return if the place isnt taken care of correctly. I also should mention i have dogs. They are great but one is big and needs special attention. Not the easiest but he is very loving and he is my family like the rest.

It would be great to have someone come stay for a few months but finding the right person is difficult especially when you are offgrid living. Its not for everyone. Im looking but the volunteer sites are not really working, i have talked to people but more short term than semi or possible longterm.

I see many people looking for shared land and community building and this crosses my mind if i should consider this. My original plan was to make a small rustic campground with a few rv hookups nothing fancy just simple residual income with some social bits on the way. Also think about selling as the market has been good past few years but then i am on the road again which i dont know if i want to do that right now.

So if there is anyone out there who may have some interest, insight or similar experience that may want to put their two cents in it would be most welcome. At the moment its just a throw out to the universe and see what comes back.
Thanks in advance

Hi, Larry. I may ask in my network here in Malaga, Spain. Sometimes there comes a guy asking for a place like yours to help with.
It would be great if you could make a shorter text with the proposal and some way to contact you for further explanations? Can you speak Spanish? Portuguese? Only English? That matters too.
People might be interested to know whether they will need a financial support too?

Hi Abraham, so that is why I put the topic like I did. At the moment not sure which direction I want to go in. Its very up in the air right now but staying here is top of the list but considering all options slowly, posting here is really a step 1ish on the new path.

Most definately there are the what I dont wants, which are easier to relay.

Not looking for someone to tag along or just looking for a place to exist while they look for the next free ride eat my food etc, use the resources and not fully appreciate how to get everything set up. And the inevitable what I should have dones and pats on the head about current situation. I am fully aware of the big decsions that need to be done in the coming months.

That is easily found on workaway, helpx and other volunteer sites. Those are mostly short term anyway.
I do have a listing on there and still have hope i will come across someone but sites seem to have a different traveller now.

I am fine with people who are trying to make a change or trying to figure their lives out and need a sanctuary they can work for their keep, that i am cool with. Would like that to be longer stay so i put a month minimum.

People who are dreaming and romantic about offgrid living, a real turn off for me. Its actually not that hard but is a daily work effort instead of a financial continuous outlay for instant comfort.

Dogs,Donkey and Chickens someone coming must love them for all their faults not just good, if they do not well not going to work. Animals are fun but do take time and effort.

Strict diets, i can appreciate peoples preferences but I am a country boy I eat like a farm person does and  that has meat in there.

People who have money but still want everything for a super deal. That price comes with lots of work and later you can say i only paid x. On the other side people who have nothing but the ability to work but no possibility to put in money or pay their daily way, this is common and from my experience there is a high value for their work, higher than just hiring someone to do it.
If i was going to take a partner that would have to be discussed in great detail but i am open to it.

I hope that gives a bit more. I know not precise but that is the problem do not know yet. You can tell people to contact me here we can exchange contacts through the private messages.
I speak English thats my first, Portuguese I have a fair working ability not fluent Spanish the same. French I have not used for a while but  its in there.
Thanks for reaching out
