Dr. Zach Bush is someone I've been following for several years now, originally more in the matters of health and wellness.  He's a triple board certified MD.  However, more and more I feel like he's stealthily slipping into being a new force in the realm of permaculture.  I have a sense not many already in the permaculture community are even aware of him though.  In particular a few years back he founded an organization, Farmer's Footprint, to work to globally advance forward regenerative farming practices that support our health, ecosystems, and community (sounds like permaculture to me!).

I just watched an end of year update presentation they are calling "The State of Regeneration" that I suspect some of you here would find of interest so I thought I'd start this thread to share it.  A couple elements in the presentation I found interesting were his points on how the relatively recent in terms of human history, the desertification of large parts of Africa and the middle east are the result of war tactics by the Roman empire.  That was a completely new concept for me.  The other part I especially liked was one of the ways the organization is helping to build more regenerative farms is by assisting the farmers with website design, internet presence, and just telling their stories.  Sharing stories can be a powerful tool for social change, education, and boosting the economic viability of projects/farms.  He is often looking at the way whole systems interact in unexpected ways.

Should you be interested here's the link.
