Hey folks,

My partner and I are in Mexico City for the month of January and would love to see the Chinampas. We’ve taken Geoff Lawton’s course and are starting on our own permaculture design on our property. We’ve heard that the chinampas tour available to the general public is full of tourists and noise and not about learning the history and techniques of the gardens.

Is there anyone who could give us a personal tour of these wonderful gardens? We‘re ready to learn and appreciate!

Cheers

Hi, Trace

Have you thought to plan a trip to Xochimilco to see the Chinampas?

I would suggest asking when is the best day to travel when not so many tourists will be there.

It might be fun to just get on a bus and ride to Xochimilco.  That way you really get the feel of the real Mexico.

I would of course ask to see if that route would be safe.

It has been a long time since I have been to Mexico and things probably have changed.

This might help explain:

We have several members from Mexico so I hope one will speak up and give you the best details.
