A Mass Extinction Is Taking Place in the Human Gut
To preserve humankind’s diverse bacteria, scientists are harvesting, freezing, and storing poop from around the world.



Swiss scientists are trying to collect, freeze, and sequence unique human gut microbiomes from unique locations and peoples. They may ultimately be stored in a "Microbiota Vault" like the seed bank in Norway.
