Does anybody have any ideas or designs for a livestock pen gate that would keep goats out and let the dog in? Our livestock dog, bless his heart, enjoys sleeping with the goats but also appreciates patrolling his pasture at night intermittently. Ideally, I would appreciate a gate idea that would keep the goats penned into their nightly pen but allows the dog out to patrol and inspect any issues in his pasture.

Additionally, I want to rotationally graze/browse these goats and contain them to prevent them eating pasture freely while the dog can come and go as he pleases.

I came across an idea on Texas A&M University's website which had the gate lifted slightly higher, say 8" so the dog could dig and crawl under but the goats couldn't. I'm thinking hard on this but have you guys any experience with Nubian goats crawling on their knees to get under a 8" opening? I'm going to feel like an idiot getting this set up only to see goats make no issue getting out.

Similar, I would suggest a doggie door.

If your dog is microchipped, there are doggie doors that read the chip, to only allow access to your dog, not other dogs (unless you want), or wildlife.
There might always be the issue of "tailgating" as a failure mode? but probably unlikely...
