I often see (on the internet) people growing avocado plants from a pit. Several ways to do it are shown in youtube videos.
So I think many people must have an avocado house plant now ... Anyway: I managed to get an avocado plant to grow from a pit, about seven years ago. And here's a photo of how it looks now:

(maybe next thread about the Aloe vera house plant?)

I have 3 avocado pits soaking right now to try this.  Wish me luck :)
