Hello everyone I just wanted to introduce myself I am from Southeastern Kentucky. Grew up on a huge cattle farm. Became an electrician, spent my entire life honing my Appalachian foraging hunting trapping and living off the land knowledge. I spent a lot of time out in red River Gorge in the Daniel Boone national Forest. I try to do at least one 15 night solo trip a year. This past year I split up with my long-term girlfriend. And decided to travel from Beattyville Kentucky where the KY river begins and solo kayaked it in its entirety all while feeding myself and sheltering myself off the land barring the first night in which I had a rather large sirloin 😛😁 what an incredibly freeing experience!

I’m what most consider to be pagan I would not necessarily call myself anything. But I’m extremely spiritual, I have heard the whispers of my ancestors past calling through the mountains and foothills of the Appalachia’s. And look forward to meeting some of the likeminded folk here.

Glad to be here, thank you for offering up such a awesome place I know this takes a lot of work!

Close to Kentucky Lake. We're not as flat as the middle part, still plenty of hills and hollers, lots of deciduous forest.

Ahhh I see, I have spent quite a few weekend’s paddling and fishing my lake, nice part of the world.

Here's another Kentuckian.  Sounds like fun. But the dog didn't look happy after a 28 degree night.

It’s funny you say that, I had an intense long fire that night on two sides, burning up to five 12 to 16 “ diameter seasoned white pine mixed with two or three well seasoned 4 to 8” diameter hardwoods (cherry and oak) bucked at 6’ in length. Only had to add a new logs every three hours. It was a night I couldn’t miss man lol I had to watch the sky that night, all the crystals in the air down in that gorge coupled with that full winter moon, you could see the colors dancing, even the air itself felt alive. But I digress… the dog 😂 he was grumpy af all night because he would get to hot on one side and have to move to the other side because he will only sleep facing away from me in the woods but he has to be touching me 😂 so he was forced by his own stubborn tenacity to get up and walk all the way around me, and wake me up to put my jack back over him 😂 he was a funny guy. Sure do miss him.

I just realized why he was not looking to happy in that moment though, he’s tied to a tree with some 550 cord because he kept wanting to go down the ridge after a chipmunk. 😂

Also Kentucky, in the knobs of central KY.  Not from here though, but got a little piece of land next to a WMA and living life.
