First ever post anywhere so...

I have land in Carrizozo, NM. Soon I'll have a slab. But I'm over taken by crippling uncertainty, stress and fear about a building. So many options but without help and advice they all seem so far away.

I want a simple 20'x50'x10' single slope bldg shell. Just a door and thats it and I'll do the rest. It seems I can get a red iron (not galvanized square tube) kit for around 13k. Since it's red iron, and since it's not a high or tall bldg, there really aren't too many pieces all things considered. But, as I mentioned I'm almost in a frozen state cause I dont have any help with any of it.

I can swing probably 15k to 17k on the kit and tools and equipment and crew, which, if everything fell in to place would be enough. The prices builders and contractors want is just criminal in some cases. In other cases people out here seem to not be interested in the job! Back east you would have all kinds of people scrambling to do the work, here, they shrug it iff and say they're too busy. Meanwhile this is one of the least populated states in the country!

If I just had like three other guys that knew what they were doing I think these kits can go up in a day!

So, if anyone is feeling charitable or if anyone knows a crew in the Carrizozo, NM area that erects metal buildings... you have no idea how huge of a things getting this done would be for me.

Peace, all.

I can understand the feelings you have and the effect it has on you.
I am a caring person but I am also cautious because of past experiences.
There are organisations such as Habit for Humanity in Australia that offer ' sweat equity ' programs.
The difficulty you have is that just appearing and asking for help immediately may not work.
Here are some organisations who may;
- https://www.adobeinaction.org/, a New Mexico-based 501c3 non-profit organization.
We support owner builders with the planning and construction of their adobe homes.
We promote adobe home building and ownership through education and student-based field support.
We partner with low-income families by providing construction technical assistance, so they can build, improve or expand their homes while meeting the necessary safety, quality, and habitability conditions.
We also support the acquisition and financing of materials for self-construction.
At the same time, we develop and strengthen the capacities of families through workshops on healthy housing, family finances, and community organization.

Welcome to the forum.

Where I live there are companies that advertise these "Carports" usually locally.  I got mine through my local feed store.

I did not get a carport 9instead I got an enclosed building.  They offer several different designs and came to my property and built the building. I have two of them.

I asked Mr. Google "Metal building Tularosa, NM" and there are several to choose from.  One was something like "coast-to-coast carports".

If you still choose to hire someone, when I was a kid, my mom would go to the "unemployment office" and ask some guy if they wanted to make some money.  This worked well for her.

Is there such an office where you live, I have no idea.

Maybe there are places near construction sites where folks hang out looking for jobs?

Look for "Day Labor centers".

Check the internet for "Day Labor" for  Tularosa, NM

Best wishes for a great kit building.

This is a stretch.. but you should pay a visit to the Bee Chama Farm in Lemitar/Polvadera, just north of Socorro. It is a permaculture/ alternative building site based around beekeeping and honey sales. The owner Arik Glesne is a force of nature, and they frequently host WWOOFER types who may be able to help. I lived and worked there for a couple years, and it’s worth a visit regardless to check out the place and sample from what may be one of the largest selections of honeys in the world! Ask to see the “Mohai”.. an Easter Island inspired fireplace that I created for an enclosed patio.. best of luck!
