I was at a festival yesterday and bought my mom a jar of lilac jelly. I am not a fan of most sweet things, and had never thought about flower jellies before. So I looked it up, and found a site with links to a bunch of recipes for various flowers.

And, incidentally, the lady who was selling these jellies said they were going fast, these might be a product worth selling! I bought one, and I don't think I have bought jelly or jam at a festival type thing for many years, if it appeals to me, and I'm not the target market for stuff like that, it might be worth your time to try selling some   :D

I'm going to be eyeing my flowers now!

Pearl these sound interesting! Back home in tennesse they have kudzu jelly. It's more interesting that good haha
Another one one I saw the other day in west virgina was ramp jelly! I didn't try that one but maybe I should.

I'm going to try and find some flower jellies now and see if any are worth making!

Those fragrant flower jellies like lilac are really intriguing. I'm curious how they come across, like orange flower or rose water or more "honey-ish." Linden seems like it would be a good one to try along those lines.

I've seen this guy making hibiscus jelly which is another flower jelly that sounds really nice to me, maybe on a cracker with some fresh cheese or as part of a sweet and tangy glaze for meat.

I believe it's flavored with the flowers of the vine. Everywhere online it says it's a famous southern treat but I only ever saw it for sale at the kudzu festival and at hokey road side tourist traps.

Mercy: Basically to make any of them you brew a tea out of the flowers, then gel it.

I'll report on the lilac!

And Ramp jelly sounds fine to me, I use garlic as a sweet spice accent, try some in a pumpkin pie, it's really neat what it does to the flavor.

I'll have to try that come pumpkin time!

I may give the ramp jelly a shot next time I'm up that way. It's a little price prohibitive for never having it before but sometimes they have samples at that co-op!
