Paid Part-time Post and SKIP opportunity

Modern Heritage Farm in Glendale, Kentucky is hiring a paid, part-time 20-24 hours per week.  I often buy their nutritious produce.  Their farm is 15 miles from my homestead.  They are on Instagram and Facebook if you want to know more about them.  The job posted on June 8, 2023 at 10:35 PM EST, so if you are interested jump quickly.

You can tell John Thomas or Jessica that Angela Wilcox sent you.

If you apply to them and get this position, I have a work/trade position on my land, and offering PEP/PEX in the SKIP program.  You could work for Modern Heritage Farm to learn and earn coin, and live and work on my place to earn land. You would need your own transportation and RV/Camping until you could build your own tiny house on my land.

I have 150 acres with meadow/woodland, ponds, springs, wildlife, tractor for earthworks badges and a small amount of hand tools.  It is off grid with solar and wifi for you to upload documentation of your badge work.  Three acres are available for you to earn through the PEP/PEX program.

I have started a small food forest and raised bed garden.

Here is the job posting from Modern Heritage.  The second paragraph is the job posting:

Hey Friends!

As promised in our last newsletter, we're sharing the details of our summer volunteer program this week. We will open the farm for volunteers on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesdays will be harvesting or working on whatever the biggest farm task is that week- next week it will be planting 400 sweet potato slips. Thursdays and Fridays will mostly be harvesting, with other opportunities available depending on how many volunteers we have and their interests/skills. Please RSVP to Jessica at 270-763-3550 a day ahead if you plan to come out so we can prepare for you.

In addition to starting our volunteer program this year, we are hiring part-time (20-24 hrs./week) help. No experience is required, but a hardiness to the working conditions is necessary- must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. The best candidate will be interested in regenerative-organic farming/gardening, have a desire to learn, and the ability to adapt/adjust to new tasks as the variabilities of working with nature require. Good attention to detail is also necessary. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. as there will be heavy totes of produce to carry on harvest days. If you enjoy getting dirty and sweaty, being active and on your feet, learning about/working with plants and insects, and working in a quiet, health-promoting environment, this job may be for you! Reach out to us for more information if you are interested!

We will be setting up at the Wednesday market for the summer. Wednesday markets are from 9 a.m. -1 p.m. at the Hardin County Farmers' Market Pavillion. Squash, zucchini, and cucumbers are ready! We took our first harvest of these crops to the Wednesday market this week. Get the whole story on cucumbers and some amazing ways to enjoy them right here. The link includes recipes for Chilled Cucumber Avocado Soup, Japanese Cucumber Salad, and Cucumber Raita. YUM!!

We are in full summer bounty mode! This week's harvest includes:
Yellow Squash
Zucchini
Cucumbers
Garlic Scapes (the ones we missed, so probably the final harvest)
Green Onions
Curly Kale
Collard Greens
Swiss Chard
Beets
Mini Cabbage
Cabbage
Green & Purple Kohlrabi

Click here to pre-order for Saturday's market! We look forward to seeing you there!

Your Farmers,
Jessica & John Thomas Hodges
