What are the best things to make possibly out of wood to make the garden as efficient as possible and help maintain crops.

This starts with the soil. start building the health of your soil.  One easy way is with wood chips.  Here is Dr. Bryant Redhawk's soil Series:

Grouping plants by their needs, such as plants that need more water or plants that need more sun.

Plan what you will have in your garden, no impulse buying.

Have a good design.

Don't forget about weeds and let them get out of hand.

Using a wagon or cart to haul plants to the garden.

Don't forget about the kids, let them help in the garden and teach them gardening at the same time.
