The U.S. Climate Vulnerability Index

Pulling in 184 sets of data to rank more than 70,000 U.S. Census tracts, the U.S. Climate Vulnerability Index helps you see which communities face the greatest challenges from the impacts of a changing climate. This tool shows what is driving the challenges, so policymakers and communities themselves can take action to build climate resilience where it is needed most.

Really interesting rabbithole to go down, lots to consider.
I found their priorities weird, but I look at the world differently than they do.

This page explains their methodology, and includes things like socioeconomics, municipal infrastructure, overall health & age of population/demographics, population density, etc. :

Definitely an interesting map. Did anyone notice that many areas which are dark to black on the map, had 2 or more "black squares" in the Community Baseline health department, and often other areas also?

In other words, they're vulnerable to a lot of bad stuff *before* they suffer the storm of  the century or some other natural calamity. So maybe we need to figure out how to fix that stuff to improve the resilience of communities. Things like permaculture food forests, herbal training to help health, lessons about foraging, etc?

I'm not dead! I feel happy! I'd like to go for a walk! I'll even read a tiny ad:
