I just read a very interesting introduction to the importance of eelgrass here on the Pacific Coast:

https://thetyee.ca/WhatWorks/2023/11/27/Eelgrass-Is-Amazing/

I'm an equally amateur boater, so the importance of not anchoring where there are eelgrass fields was something I'd heard, but not really understood.

It's nice to read a good-news story, in that there are people working hard and successfully to rehabilitate areas of eelgrass in my area. There's been a lot of concern about ways to support our oceans, and this certainly appears to be one of them.
