I think that an old broken toaster oven set on top of a cooktop, or on the barrel of a rocket mass heater, would be a nice toaster. Anyone tried this? Or just toast on a rack on top of the barrel?  I don’t really eat toast but it came up in a conversation recently.

I do like the look of an old fashion cast iron toaster...

Maybe not at that price point, but finding the end piece or fabbing one wouldn't be too awfully hard I wouldn't think?

beautiful!  I didn't realize they were that fancy.

For a barrel top I wonder what temperature is needed.

I'm seeing 500 F/300 C approximately for an electric toaster.  A rocket barrel about 500-1000F (about 300-600C).  So, perfect.

Brilliant joke, me.

Toasting on the rmh worked great. I tested with some bread that turned out to be moldy so I didn’t actually eat it but it was crunchy and nicely browned. Took longer than an electric toaster but if you plop it on there and walk away to make your coffee and water your ducks by the time you’re back it’ll be nice and toasty
