I can never understand people who are cruel to animals, when all they want is affection and protection. It says more about some people than any other personality trait I.e. lowlifes that treat 'blue collar workers' like waiters/waitresses and cleaners with disrespect.

The dog looks like a fine addition to your extended family and has already served a few purposes. Seems your future bro-in-law likes it too, which may prove a useful distraction.

Sometimes it's the unexpected visitors that prove the most pleasant.

I reckon the dog is a keeper!

Dogs, at their best, exhibit the loyalty and intelligence I my self aspire to.
Give them food, water, a place to lie down, and some affection and they become your friend.
It looks to me as if you have great pup there.

Someone from that family returned and reclaimed the dog. They were rightfully angry at the person who left her in that condition, and thankful for the help. They let her run in the evening and she has returned twice for a meal of leftovers and some petting. When she first arrived , she ate a little bit but then drank of huge amount for somebody so small. A little while later she ate enough to feed a Labrador.

We weren't really in a position to have a dog just yet, since we haven't bought land. I checked yesterday and she had a spot to get out of the sun and had food and water. I will keep an eye on the situation, to make sure that it doesn't happen again.

There are stray kids all over this part of the city. I sometimes buy a little extra when i go to the fried chicken place , but i will not give them money, since they immediately go into 7-eleven and turn it into sugar. Animal welfare is definitely not a top of mind thing for most people or the government . There's nobody to call about these things.

Hey Dale,
Great reading thusfar though I skipped a fair bit in the middle.
Phillipines is high on my list to visit next. If i may ask, you wrote some woman at a market walked up and spit on you. Any idea why she did this? Is this kind of animosity to foreigners common in Cebu? In Manila?

Hello! I know this forum is a year ago. But I'm planning to build a cob house at home in the Philippines and I saw your post. I'm not sure how to start, which architecture firm should I get or should I even get one.

Hi! I'm a filipino. I cannot generalize everyone, but I can say that most of the filipinos are friendly. You can checkout plenty of tourists vlogs in Youtube. Maybe try to checkout Avelovinit channel.

There are NGOs in the Philippines like PAWS for animal welfare. However, not all stray dogs are lucky to be saved. Somehow, being discriminated as "Dog breeds" is a symbol of status in the society or is something to brag about in the country.

Though there are some groups in FB who loves to adopt like ASPIN Lovers Philippines.

Hi Mae
I've got two friends here in the Philippines who built their own cob houses. Both hired some builders to help but essentially designed and built it themselves.
