The previous owner had planted one, when we lived in Seattle, and one fine year it produced some fruits.
Akebia quinata. Note that while the wikipedia description claims that the flowers smell like chocolate, which could be true - I never noticed - it makes no such claim for the fruit.
The fruits are sausage-shaped pods which contain edible pulp. The gelatinous placentation contains seeds surrounded with white pulp, that has a sweet flavor.
I tried it, and I think that about covers it.
My impression was that it was a somewhat invasive vine, and unreliable producer of fruit that is low in quantity and quality. Other than that, it should be fine.
