I have been enjoying nettles tea for some time and am now beginning to enjoy them as a cooked vegetable and juiced in a juicer. I have a friend bringing me some plants to plant here on my small farm and I am wondering where I should put them.

I know they tend to be a hearty plant and they can spread. How vigorously do they spread? Are we talking like mint or is it less aggressive than that?

We have some pretty heavy deer pressure, would nettles discourage them? How about rabbits and voles?

Would they be good in the orchard around apples chestnuts and blueberries or are they too competitive?

Can they handle mowing?

I know we don't want them anywhere where we will be walking barefoot, is there anything else I should keep in mind?

Acetylsalicylic acid is aspirin. This could be handy too:
