I have two skunked dogs on my hands. does anyone have the latest and greatest ideas in skunk smell removal? previously I have had little luck with the tomato juice idea but i always could just leave the dogs out till it finally wore off. but i can't stand the yapping at night when they are outside at this place. I guess there are too many varmints to bark at around here.

even my house stinks. i think it was taking cover under our porch last nite. when we arrived home it was burning our eyes to be on the front porch and all dogs were on the porch mysteriously (or not so

) looking quietly defeated. they spent the night locked in the bathroom but that just made the smell linger in the house.

The last thing I heard is that there were products now that worked well for removing the stench.

have you tried Natures Miracle....also for in the house..burn some candles..esp scented ones..they burn the oils out of the air..and reduce the smell quickly

thanks everyone! looks like the baking soda, dish detergent and peroxide are the way to go. at the very least I want to try it before resorting to buying some expensive solution. they slept in the bathroom and stunk up the house again last night. although it wasnt' as bad as before since it wasn't compounded by the smell drifting into the house from just outside. I did burn some candles and that helped alot. now I jsut have to nag hubby to bathe them. no heavy lifting for me and I am sure the larger one is not going to cooperate.......neither one have ever had a bath before and they are going to be very unhappy about it.

I don't think they got a real direct hit but they certainly got plenty to stink! good 'ol Charlene who has a little age on her obvioulsy knew better, it was the two young stupid dogs that obviously didn't keep their distance!

Looks like you're getting a lot of practical advice here. For my own selfish reasons...I'm really glad this didn't happen last weekend!
