Hi!  I'm Aimee.  A friend referred me to this forum and I figure it's worth a shot!  I'm seeking a like-minded companion with whom to live out this permaculture homestead dream!

My Background:  Grew up in southern Ohio. Got a degree in Environmental Science. Worked as an agroforestry Peace Corps volunteer in Haiti. Worked as an environmental/social justice activist and community organizer in my twenties. Got a masters degree in Natural Resource Management. Completed a 3-month sustainable living internship in Costa Rica. Taught ESL in S Korea. Studied permaculture in Thailand and Haiti. Attended two Yoga Teacher Trainings (S Korea and Costa Rica). Worked on and managed various farms in the US and abroad. Have lived in Ohio, Haiti, Arizona, Hawaii, Costa Rica, S Korea and California. Have done a good bit of traveling.

My Personality/Interests: I would describe myself as an extroverted introvert (Meyers Briggs-INTJ, Zodiac-Aquarius). I need and relish my solo time but I can also be quite outgoing in social settings.  I am genuinely interested in people and like to get to the deep/real stuff.  I am very direct in communication and value honesty and truth. As far as religious beliefs, I'd say I'm agnostic but I dabble in the spiritual realm. I live by the golden rule. I love unconditionally and with intention. I'm very independent, competent, stable (mentally/emotionally/financially). I'm SO open-minded. I have crazy work ethic, particularly when it comes to homesteading activities. I'm very active, healthy & fit. I love to use my body (labor, outdoor recreation, sports). I love music and like to dance. I love to learn and build new skills. I love growing and building things! I'm a do-er with a can-do attitude. I'm known to do cartwheels. I'm a gritty gal who loves to get dirty, but I can clean up and meld with the city-folk on occasion. I love to cook and eat mainly a vegetarian diet (although I occasionally eat wild game, fish/seafood or other meat I can justify to myself). I do enjoy alcoholic beverages but I am not a lush or alcoholic. I'd say I am easy-going and fun. I'm a tough one to pin down, though (I never settle), which, i suppose, is why I remain single.  Never been married. No kids. No mental illness. No drama. Nothing to hide.

My Current Situation: After years of galavanting, in 2016 I bought about 20 acres in the beautiful rolling hills of southern Ohio (not far from my home town). My goal is to steward some land in a responsible way and to thrive on the land. I've been slowly building up a homestead on my own and within my means. Thus far, I have built a tiny home (about 400 sq ft) where I live with my two cats. I put in a small pond for irrigation, swimming and habitat. I planted a handful of fruit trees and berries. I established a moderate vegetable garden. I sell my produce at a little roadside farm stand and through a very small CSA subscription. I built four tiny off-grid cabins (from salvaged materials) that I rent out along with five tent camping sites. I host farm volunteers during the growing season. I built a small stage for music events and plan to host more workshops, retreats and events in the future. I keep a small flock of laying chickens and have some honey bees. My woods have plenty of sugar maples that I tap for syrup.  Oh, and I also co-own a big chunk of land in the jungle of Costa Rica that is on the back-burner (I plan to, eventually, spend part of each year down there).

What I Seek:  I want to thrive on this land that I am stewarding and be supported by it in a way that I am both energized and granted time for necessary rest and time away. I've accomplished a lot on my own (and not without the help of friends, volunteers and former lovers) but it's a lot for one gal and to have the right partner in this life would be, simply, magical. I know it could be magical for both parties.  I am seeking a likeminded and physically similar partner who shares my values and vision for this kind of lifestyle.  Someone who brings some good energy and skills to the table. I am absolutely seeking a loving, romantic relationship, but it doesn't have to be that. A friend in this life would be amazing as well.  I'm living a pretty blissful life with a good balance of work and play and I'd love to share it.

If this interests you at all, comment/message me and let's talk!

Hello Aimee.
I'm Jason.
Currently residing in Kansas City.
I'm 52 and very intrigued and interested in your post.
I've been around and done things.
I've permacultured, organiced and generally ran around looking for better things.
I've lived many lives in this current past life doing so many things until i realized what matters.
Currently I'm remodeling 2 warehouses, a restaurant, a friend's basement while also working at another restaurant and fixing things at a friend's house.
I'd Rather be using my skills & tools on sustainable things, Rather than making unsustainable things better.
I have more tools than cents, but eventually can sell many tools for more cents.
I've built showpiece rocket mass heaters, installed wood burning stoves with plastic lined chimneys, had in the past 28 fish tanks in a house, built competition quality car stereo systems and on add on ...
I'm currently also the unofficial sound guy, roadie and choufer for my cousins budding musical career.
Everything about your post really resonated with me.
I'm on a friend's couch an hour out of town after a 12 hour electrical day trying to stay awake to reply to you.
Thank you for posting your wonderful life.
I'm hoping for future correspondence and maybe everything.
Who knows.
I also have been adopted 3 years ago by "My Boss", a fabulous tabby that is totally the boss of me.
I'm not sure about the pics cuz the thumbnails were super tiny.
We'll see

Hello Aimee.
It looks like you are on an amazing path.
I have seen parts of Ohio and I must say that in certain areas
it was so beautiful and picturesque
that it could easily have been directly out of a Pixar movie.
Especially the mixed valleys with the morning fog rising.
It's been years since I have seen it
but it has always stuck with me.

I even bought my last property because it resembled
what I had seen in Ohio.
( It was simply that beautiful )

I sold my property recently and I am starting over.
New adventures I suppose.
I happened across this site while searching out property
in the rural areas.
I was even considering Mexico
( Mazatlan )
Not sure yet, though.

Wanted to say hi, and compliment you and your state.

You actually look like you are doing great.  Nice garden!

I'm going to make a comment and it in no way is meant to disparage you or anyone else on this forum.  I could have posted this on any number of posts in this forum I just happened to find myself on yours while I was ruminating on this.  I've been looking through these posts and it seems most of us, I've posted here too, have acquired land and find ourselves needing someone to share it with.  It can be tough since most of us are in a very rural situation which limits the number of people we interact with.  Especially like minded people, therefore this forum.  I wonder what others have done to connect to other like minded locals in their areas?  I know I've had trouble since I started building up my property, all the work it takes to build up our land/homes leaves us with limited time as well.
