I've been on the lookout in more Muslim oriented spaces and have only come across a handful of men wanting to homestead. Sadly, they were pretty far away(like countries away). I'm open to moving but after I graduate.

I'm 28F pursuing degrees in horticulture and soil science and hoping to apply to knowledge I've been learning in an IRL context(a homestead lol). I also have experience with beekeeping. I have an affinity more towards growing fruit but I've been hoping to get into to cereal grains as well(especially ancient grains since they're high in minerals). Our current food systems have been maximizing growth and plant breeding goals of higher yield, which has sadly caused some of the nutritional content of foods to suffer. We've been seeing a steady decline in the vitamin/nutrient content of food now vs olden times, with common garden vegetables containing up to 40% less nutrients than in the 20th century. If possible I'd like to do some plant breeding(probably backcrossing) with some og plants. Getting the seeds may be the hard part but I wonder if one of us might be able to request some og seeds for academic purposes(I've heard from a colleague this works with rice).  I also hope to get into herbalism. I grew up being given herbs for common household illnesses so I already have one foot in the door.

I'm looking for someone who is also Muslim, interfaith marriages are not permitted for women. I've never been married and avoid zina. I have no kids and observe hijab. I am open to wearing niqab. I would prefer if the man in question also observes  hijab. I observe all fard prayers. If you are not a revert then I would also expect you to have avoided zina.

EDIT: By my "not a revert " line I am referring to people who are born and raised Muslim. I am not open to marrying outside of Islam.

Hi Aliyah, I'm not a revert, I'm starting a homestead where you can practice herbalism and botany.

Salam, where are you starting your homestead? Also which madhab do you follow?

Ahh sorry, I'm not open to marriage with someone who isn't Muslim, when I said "not a revert" I was referring to people who were born and raised Muslim as most Muslims fall into two categories (born + raised or converted(revert). I should have been more specific with what I meant, apologies. I hope you find a lovely lady to share your homesteading journey with!

Oh an intentional community, how lovely. I'm actually quite open to this and have been mulling it around as one of my post-graduation goals. Though I'd rather focus a bit more on finding a partner as I don't think my social reach would expand the less I'm on the internet. My ideal homesteading situation is at least semi-off the grid. Do you already have a group of people you'll be starting with?

Hello my name is Taha. I currently live in Germany. I am very interested in an alternative way of life, which is also based on the art of permaculture. I intend to marry someone from the Muslim community. Because it only makes sense for me to find someone who has the same ideas. I'll get back to your message. I would like to follow the legal path of getting to know each other according to Islamic regulations and would be happy to receive an answer from you first. wasalam

As-salaamu alaikum, Aliyah, we do exist! lol. Muslim permies makes perfect sense in light of Allah's order for us to take care of the earth, no? I'm your brother, Daniel, in NC. Just wanted to let you know that you're most definitely not alone. I wish you the best in your studies and seeking a spouse. I'll make du'a for you regarding both. If you need someone to bounce ideas to & from, please don't hesitate to hit me up. Allah will provide! I'm currently working on acquiring a property of 16 acres that used to be a subsistence farm of some sort, that has the need for some permies love and attention. We are planning on inviting others to join in an effort towards an intentional community of sorts (at least some helpful, friendly, enthusiastic neighbors that isn't necessarily only for Muslims, but we're trying to have something available for them, first. Alrighty then, that about sums it up for a start. All the best. Allah's Peace, Mercy & Blessings to you, sister.

Good to see you here on permies Aliyah. It seems from my limited outsider’s knowledge that many aspects of Muslim cultures would align well with permaculture, especially what I know of the agricultural innovations brought to the Iberian peninsula long ago.  I might look into contacting Geoff Lawton, a well known and respected permaculture educator whose wife is Muslim (and I believe he converted upon marriage).  He leads the Permaculture Research Institute, and Zaytuna Farms in Australia. He has done a lot of work in the Muslim world and likely has connections to a network of folks in the global diaspora. I hope you find who you seek.
